It’s Drinking Water Week, a week promoted by the American Water Works Association to highlight the importance of keeping our drinking water safe and healthy. This week’s theme is Protect the Source.
The AWWA has been celebrating Drinking Water Week for more than 40 years in association with the League of Women Voters, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators. The week-long event was recognized by the U.S. Congress in 1988.
Hundreds of cities throughout the country and world have participated in activities, including the City of Bloomington Minnesota ( @bloomington_mn ), which made this video below to highlight that without a safe, continuous supply of water we would not have drinking water, water for activities or safety:
