Nobel Systems Profile Spotlight
“It’s my passion for GIS that keeps me going. I love everything about GIS.”
June Reyes is a licensed Geodetic Engineer. He started working with Nobel Systems five years ago as a project manager, providing technical knowledge for its in-house solutions such as GeoViewer Online and Mobile and its other GIS (Geographic Information System) products and services.
Two years after joining the Nobel team, Reyes was promoted to Operations Manager, handling GIS analysts in the Philippines and India and managing the company’s day-to-day activities, from data hosting, configuration, and testing.
Reyes grew up in the Philippines, where he graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering. He credits his parents, who taught him to value education, as his role models.
“They’re both elementary school graduates, but they thrived and worked hard for my siblings and me so we could achieve our dreams,” Reyes said. “They’re really supportive of all our endeavors.”
This appreciation of and closeness with his parents and brother and sister inspires Reyes and drives him to do his best in life.
“All the hard work I am doing is for my family. I am motivated and driven because I want them to have all the best in life.”
Reyes grew up poor and juggled work and school as a college sophomore, taking classes in the morning and working at night.
“With all the hardships that I’ve experienced before, I learned that nothing comes easy, and if I want something, I should work really hard for it,” he said.
Despite the hardships he went through, Reyes received honors throughout his education from elementary school, where he graduated as Class Salutatorian, received 2nd Honorable Mention in high school, and earned his BS degree in geodetic engineering from the University of Philippines.
With all the hardships that I’ve experienced before, I learned that nothing comes easy, and if I want something, I should work really hard for it.
Besides his license as a geodetic engineer, Reyes is also a CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer and a CTT+ Classroom Trainer. Additionally, he’s been ESRI Certified as an ArcGIS Desktop Professional and Associate, Enterprise Geodata Management Associate, and Instructor.
His work drives Reyes to do his best career-wise: “It’s my passion for GIS that keeps me going. I love everything about GIS.”
Reyes marks his achievements and successes by the appreciation he receives from his superiors and colleagues at Nobel Systems. It is this recognition that carries over into his philosophy about work:
“I strongly believe in teamwork,” he said. “I love to work with others and accessing more ideas to achieve mutual goals.”
Reyes addresses the challenges of managing people with distinct personalities and abilities by respecting his colleagues’ individualities and encouraging them in their work.
“I strongly believe that whatever I can do, others can do too with the right amount of attitude and skills.”
It’s not all work for Reyes. He enjoys biking, which he does daily for an hour after work to relieve stress. “I also have a collection of LEGOs which help me relax by building.”
The engineer always remembers that he did not get where he is alone, always grateful for the people who have helped him throughout life, from his parents and educators to his coworkers at Nobel Systems.
Reyes says he sees his future career involving Nobel Systems.
“I will stay at Nobel as long as the company needs me. I enjoy what I do, and I am grateful that I earned the company’s trust by handling important clients. With our great products and love for customers, I am sure that Nobel will come a long way. We’ll be the leading GIS provider, and we will surely conquer the water industry here and abroad.”
