Nobel Systems, a leading provider of geospatial and cloud solutions for water management, has announced the successful completion of a groundbreaking project that created a Digital Twin of Uzbekistan’s water infrastructure. The project, which was funded by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and executed in partnership with O’zsuvTa’minot, a state-owned water utility company, aimed to revolutionize water management practices in the country by using advanced technologies to create a real-time, virtual representation of the water network.
Digital Twin for Water Efficiency
Nobel Systems has been working with O’zsuvTa’minot since 2022 to implement the digital twin system. The Digital Twin system is a key achievement of Nobel Systems’ collaboration with O’zsuvTa’minot, the national water agency of Uzbekistan. It allows for real-time monitoring and analysis of the entire water infrastructure, enabling quick and informed decisions and proactive management strategies. The system also leverages advanced analytics to anticipate potential problems, optimize resource allocation and prevent water loss. The Digital Twin has significantly improved the efficiency of water distribution, lowering operational costs and environmental impact.
The project covered three mahallas of Jizzakh City: Do’stlik, Ittifoq and Yoshlik, with a total population of about 16,000. The digital twin system is one of the first of its kind in Central Asia and demonstrates the potential of smart water technologies to transform the water sector in the region. Nobel Systems has also implemented similar projects in other countries, such as Nepal and the Philippines.
Nobel Systems’ President Michael Samuel said, “The objective of this project was to outline an integrated approach towards water asset management and feasibility analysis aimed at minimizing water loss, reducing energy cost, and promoting water sustainability and resource management. This endeavor seeks to analyze the existing water infrastructure and evaluate potential upgrade or expansion opportunities to ensure an efficient, reliable, and sustainable water supply.”
Smart Water Management in Uzbekistan
On February 21, 2024, a Single Company Promotion (SCP) event was held at the residence of the U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Jonathan Henick, to showcase the achievements and potential of Nobel Systems, a U.S.-based company that provides innovative solutions for water management and smart cities. The event was attended by high-level officials from the Uzbekistan government, including the ministers of economy and finance, water resources, and digital technologies, as well as representatives from O’zsuvTa’minot. The event also featured representatives from the U.S. Embassy, USTDA, and the Asian Development Bank, as well as local media outlets.
The SCP event aimed to promote the benefits of Nobel Systems’ technology and services for improving water supply and sanitation, enhancing operational efficiency and transparency, and supporting the digital transformation of Uzbekistan’s urban sector. The event included presentations by Nobel Systems’ executives and experts, who demonstrated how their GeoViewer platform can integrate various data sources and sensors to provide real-time monitoring and analysis of water networks, leak detection and prevention, asset management, billing and customer service, and more. The event also highlighted the successful collaboration between Nobel Systems and O’zsuvTa’minot in Djizzak city, where GeoViewer can be expected to improve water service delivery and reduce non-revenue water by 30%.
The SCP event was well received by the participants, who expressed their interest and appreciation for Nobel Systems’ solutions and their potential to address some of the key challenges facing Uzbekistan’s water sector. The event also facilitated networking and dialogue among the stakeholders, who discussed the opportunities and challenges for scaling up the use of Nobel Systems’ technology in other regions and sectors of Uzbekistan. The event concluded with a tour of the residence and a reception hosted by Ambassador Henick, who praised Nobel Systems for its contribution to strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and Uzbekistan in the field of water management and smart cities.
Nobel Systems and O’zsuvTa’minot expressed their gratitude to USTDA for supporting the project and their commitment to continue their collaboration to expand the digital twin system to other regions of Uzbekistan. They also highlighted the project as an example of the strong partnership and cooperation between the United States and Uzbekistan in the water sector.
